Independent Thinking

Having the ability to think for yourself is something that can bring incredible peace of mind. So many people are heavily influenced by what they see on social media, magazines and advertisements. Even peer pressure can leave you feeling anxious and stressed, as the need to fit in with communities and friends can become so consuming. By taking a step back to think about what it is that you like and dislike in life, can help you to break free from the status quo and create your own path to enjoy.
Have Moral Ethics

Everyones version of “right or wrong” and “good or bad” is purely objective and tends to vary according to community, culture and education. However, having standards and principles that give us the ability to think in the best interest of everyone involved in a given situation, can bring about a feeling of virtuous spirits. When we act in a way thats true to what we believe in, it allows us to become brave and courageous towards our goals in life.
Value knowledge

Charles Darwin had a theory, that the best chances of an organism becoming more likely to survive in any given environment (i.e. “survival of the fittest “), was directly dependent on how quickly it could adapt to its environment. Humans are no different. Being a life long learner puts us in a state of constant adaption. Learning allows us to keep evolving and being flexible to varying situations over time caused by technology and what we call the digital age. Many people value certificates or trophies that become outdated by almost the next day, but by going out to learn something new everyday can give you the tools needed to deal with varying circumstances all the time.
Encourage People That Surround You

As we grow up we are around people who tend to highlight our flaws. This can start off with parents, teachers, friends and later be seen with line managers, partners and even our own children. Whilst most people tend to use criticism with the intention to improve our character, it can create doubts in our mind that makes us feel as though we are never good enough no matter the effort we put in. One great way to over come this, is to cultivate the habit of praising yourself and everyone around you. This helps us to feel more confident about our abilities and encourages us to be brave and take risks in uncharted territories. Just like children, adults tend to thrive better in an environment based on compliments and praise so make sure you actively motivate those that surround you and enjoy watching how you and others can grow.
Practice Forgiveness

Trying to ride a bike with the brakes on makes it hard work for you to move a bike forward. Same way holding on to negative feelings of resentment, revenge and negativity can hold you back in life. A great way to free yourself, is to practice forgiveness. Learning to forgive is not about your ego or about the other person who has done you wrong, it’s about understanding that you deserve to be happy. So give it a go and you’ll enjoy the feeling of inner peace and loving thoughts that free your mind to pursuit your life passions instead.
